In May 2021, the City passed a new Municipal Water Conservation Plan.  This plan outlines water conservation goals and practices, while also establishing a drought response protocol.

Water Conservation Goals

Stabilize gallons per person per day (GPCD) – As of 2017, the City used 202 GPCD The GPCD figure includes:

  • Water sold to residential/commercial customers (does not include industries that use over 200,000 gallons per year)
  • Water distributed for free public services (parks, cemeteries, swimming pools etc.)
  • Water lost by leaks in the water distribution system

The City has set a water use conservation goal for usage not to exceed 212 GPCD based on the regional average of the last five years (2013-2017) of available data.
