The City Administrator is appointed by the City Council and is responsible for administration of the City's affairs and day-to-day operations.  All department directors report directly to the City Administrator.

The City Administrator provides professional leadership for the administration and execution of policies formulated by the City Council and implements projects approved by the City Council.

The City Administrator sees that the laws and ordinances of the City are enforced and that the City complies with all Federal and State laws. The City Administrator is also responsible for planning, developing, and monitoring programs to meet current as well as future fiscal and operational needs of the City.

Brad Pendergast has been the City Administrator for the City of Scott City since June 8, 2021.  Prior to that, Brad served the City of Oakley for three and half years as the City Administrator.

Brad was raised in Hays, Kansas.  He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Fort Hays State University and a Master of Public Administration from Wichita State University.  Brad’s calling to local government began during his college studies at Fort Hays State University and while working at the Docking Institute of Public Affairs.  There, Brad gained a strong sense of public service through working with local governments and other public entities.
