City Budget

Revenues

The City of Scott City receives funding mostly through property tax, sales tax, governmental revenues, franchise fees, user fees, fines, interest earnings, and other miscellaneous sources.

Approximately 20-25% of the City’s entire budget comes from current property taxes, the remaining 80% of revenues for the City comes from the other sources listed above.

Expenditures

Through the budgeting process, the City Council establishes priorities for spending public funds during an annual Budget Workshop. The General Fund is the principal operating fund of the City and is used for many operating purposes. Approximately 20% of the property tax collected in the General Fund is budgeted & provided to non-profit qualifying organizations in Scott County through the City of Scott City’s “1/2 % Sales Tax”.
